Now

CANN Design is a spatial storytelling studio seeking to (re)connect people to the places they occupy.

Founded within the digital age and a love for the unexpected, our mission is to re-engage and re-activate our physical spaces, presence and experiences.

We believe architectural storytelling is crucial to building spaces that convey meaningful messages and work with the idea that the architect as "Storyteller" is someone who makes buildings and spaces that speak of our present cultural and social narratives.

We design to re-awaken senses, reveal identities, tell untold stories, connect natural surroundings and emphasise daily habits into places and spaces that embodies the souls of those that use them. Moving away from trends and conformity to lean into the authenticity of the life and ambitions of those we meet.

As well as our own design work, we take great joy in being the storytellers of unconventional people, places and spaces through visual and verbal dialogues. Utilising our platform(s) to bring an understanding of spatial narrative and consequential readings to the wider public.

How we work >

We are intuition born, research driven and approach holistically.

We playfully operate at the juncture of art, architecture, theatrics, mother nature and contemporary culture.

We use narrative, craft and technology as our tools to help discover, explore and invent unique propositions.

We employ many methods to test and communicate our ideas including material prototyping, modelling, drawing, photography, film and collage.

As a result of our methods, our work is borne of highly bespoke solutions with meticulous detail and delivered with a very personal touch.

How can we help you?

The studio offers a range of design services across architectural*, interior, spatial agency, narrative and creative direction briefs.

* We work under the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) work stages 0-7 for all of our architectural services

To date our work has formed part of, but not limited to; elements of large scale building projects, private homes, restorations, interiors, spatial strategies, objects, styling, creative direction and teaching.

Every project we embark on will have its own parameters and requirements that may encompass several services or just a few and every creative brief will be tailored according to what it seeks with the budgets available.

We work collaboratively with required specialist consultants to provide a fully integrated design service where required.

We can help introduce a change, no matter how small, and aim to give the inspiration, artistry and professional tools to guide a brief and transcend a creative journey with joyful outcomes - join us.

Did you know?

Our virtual studio space is powered by sources like the sun, wind and sea - no vague carbon offsets, just a direct relationship between our hosts datacentre and Ecotricity to power us with energy generated by 100% renewable sources.
